25th May 2018
Our Gardens Manager Pippa will meet you in the South Court, at the front entrance of the house, to introduce you to the colourful tapestry of tulips spreading across the three garden rooms. Designed by Sir Walter Scott with advice from artists, architects and friends and radically different from contemporary fashions, the gardens offer a window into Scott's unique vision for the outdoors, while the horticultural layout puts a modern twist on Abbotsford's heritage.
The tour starts at 10.15am and is free to join for visitors to the historic house and gardens. There's no need to prebook spaces, just join at the meeting point.
Due to the exeptionally cold weather, the growth of our tulips has been delayed by several weeks. Instead of late April, our tulip festival will begin in May and is expected to last until early June. Due to this, the Tulip Festival Garden Tour will be held on the 25th of May, at the height of the bloom, instead of the 4th of May.
