10th May 2019 - 29th Sep 2019
Our volunteer guide will meet you at the front entrance of the house to introduce you to the three garden rooms, the South Court, East Court and Kitchen Garden. Radically different from Capability Brown's English Landscape movement yet right on the zeitgeist of Regency fashions, Scott's gardens are a rare surviving example of gardens of the times. Designed by Sir Walter Scott with advice from artists, architects and friends, the gardens offer a window into his unique vision for the outdoors.
Tours run from May to September
Monday at 12pm
Friday at 12pm and 2pm
Tickets: £3 per person for visitors to the house and gardens
The tour lasts roughly 1 hour and there's no need to prebook. Simply book on at our Visitor Centre on arrival and meet your guide outside the historic house. The maximum group size is 15, with spaces allocated on a first come first serve basis.
