Narrated Walk around Sir Walter Scott’s Abbotsford Estate
24th September 2022 - 24th September 2022
Join Gavin Hewitt, Chairman of the Friends of Abbotsford Committee, on a narrated walk around Sir Walter Scott’s Abbotsford estate, drawing on Scott’s letters, Journal and his detailed notes on the development of his tree plantations.
This walk is around 7km (about 2½ hours) and will leave from the Visitor Centre at 10.30am sharp; taking in Abbotsmoss, Cauldshiels Loch, Faldonside Loch before returning back to Abbotsford. It will follow minor roads and some rougher tracks. Stout shoes or walking boots are recommended.
This is a fundraising event organised by The Friend of Abbotsford Committee on behalf of The Abbotsford Trust. We suggest a donation of £5 per person. Places are limited so please book now to avoid disappointment.
The walk ends at Abbotsford around 1pm – the perfect time to take lunch in Ochiltrees. Please contact them on 01896 663962 if you would like to book a table.
A further two walks are planned for late Spring 2023 which will encompass the Rhymers Glen, Huntlyburn, Broomilees and Kaeside. Look out for details next year.
