From exclusive cashmere accessories to Scottish themed souvenirs, there is something for everyone at Abbotsford's shop.

This year we are celebrating the 250th Anniversary of Sir Walter Scott's birth. Keep up to date with our latest exclusive Walter Scott 250 produce!

Abbotsford Gin

Abbotsford’s very own Gin is now available exclusively in the Abbotsford Shop!

Locally produced classic London Dry style Gin distilled with Scots Pine, Rosemary, Gooseberry and Rosehip.

These key botanical ingredients were picked from the Abbotsford estate and gardens by Emma, the head distiller at Selkirk Distillers, who in the past served her apprenticeship as part of the gardening team here at Abbotsford.

The ingredients were chosen by our Head Gardener Tim in relation to what Scott would have liked.

Sir Walter Scott was a great Gin lover and his quote: "I am now well again by dint of drinking gin" showcases his fondness of the drink.

Abbotsford Gin makes a great souvenir or a gift for friends and family. Available in 70cl and 5cl bottles.

Walter Scott 250 Artwork

We are delighted that our specially commissioned Walter Scott 250 artwork, handpainted by Borders based artist and printmaker Emma Jones from Wee Blue Press, is now available in store.

When Emma visited Abbotsford for inspiration she was struck by how much Scott loved nature and was particularly inspired by Scott’s quote: “Wood, water and wildness have an irresistible charm for me”.

The limited edition (only twenty available) drypoint etching and monoprint, which depicts Scott and his beloved dog Maida gazing out to the Tweed, was hand printed onto handmade paper (from Tidekettle in Berwick) on her etching press. The leaves and feather were gathered from Abbotsford, inked and printed directly onto the paper. The combination of handmade paper and natural elements made each print a surprise and truly unique! We also sell smaller printed versions of her artwork too.

More from the shop...

We believe strongly in helping to keep the traditional textiles industry alive by supporting local independent mills. We are proud to be the local outlet for Sinclair Duncan, an independent mill situated in nearby Galahshiels, producing high quality cashmere accessories. In 2019 we were delighted to announce the launch of Abbotsford’s exclusive 100% cashmere scarf, designed and woven by Sinclair Duncan. The scarf was inspired by Sir Walter Scott's famous Shepherd’s Plaid trousers, which can be viewed in the Visitor Centre’s exhibition. This winter we were proud to launch another Abbotsford exclusive, this time a scarf designed by pupils from local highschool, Earlston High, a result of a colloboration between Sinclair Duncan, Developing Young Workforce Borders, Heriot Watt University and local secondary schools in the Borders.

We are also delighted to stock stylish Glen Appin weekend, overnight and shoulder tartan bags, hand-crafted Shepherd’s Plaid inspired pewter gifts from local family run business Wentworth Pewter, and luxurious organic soaps by, family-run business, Highland Soap Co.

Book lovers, or those recently inspired by their visit to the famous poet’s house, can also browse a range of our hand-selected novels including unique editions of Scott’s works, or purchase one of our Gingko Electrics’ book lights that won 2019 UK Gift of the Year Award. For younger readers why not check out our selection of children’s books from great bed time tales, such as Alasdair Hutton’s Mustard and Pepper picture book set in Abbotsford, to child editions of Scott’s famous novels such as Ivanhoe and Waverley.

For smaller memorable souvenirs you can also choose from a selection of Scott inspired postcards, magnets and home ware including our popular kitchen tea towels. Alternatively, why not treat yourself to our delicious local produce including Abbotsford’s very own honey, oatcakes and biscuits by Dalgetty Bakery and a selection of fragrant loose-leaf teas from PekoeTea, blended in Edinburgh. There’s even a tea named after Scott’s historical romantic novel, Kenilworth! Don’t fret, we haven’t forgotten about gifts for your four-legged friends. We also stock a selection of Green and Wild’s delicious pet treats, cuddly toys and dog chews too!
