ScottFest FAQ

Can I visit Abbotsford’s historic house and gardens during ScottFest? 

You will require a ScottFest ticket to visit during ScottFest 2022 and our usual house and gardens tickets will not be available on the 12th, 13th and 14th of August. Our historic house will be open to ScottFest ticket holders. Whilst our gardens will also be open, areas of them will be taken over by ScottFest activities. 

Do under 5s need a ScottFest ticket?

No, children under 5 go free to ScottFest. 5-16 year olds will require a child's ticket.

Can I use my Abbotsford annual pass, Historic Houses membership, Young Scot card or National Art Pass to gain free or discounted entry to Abbotsford during ScottFest?

No, as all visitors will require a ScottFest ticket on these dates, Abbotsford's usual discounts do not apply.

Can I walk on the Abbotsford estate during ScottFest? 

No, you will require a ScottFest ticket to enter our estate from any entrance during ScottFest. 

Are dogs allowed at ScottFest?

Yes, well behaved dogs are welcome on a lead in most of the outdoor areas at ScottFest, however there will be certain restricted areas where dogs are not allowed due to specific events taking place (e.g. falconry, jousting). Please have someone available to look after your dog(s) should you wish to access these areas.

I have accessibility needs, how easy is it for me to get around the event/grounds?

There is an accessible map showing a route to follow. Should you wish to view the activities located in the field beside the river (jousting, interactive stable) there is a viewing point on the Terrace. Should you wish to go down to the area we have an ATV (all-terrain vehicle) that runs in a circular route throughout the day. Meet at the entrance desks

Are there disabled toilets on the site?

Yes, there are toilets including a disabled toilet in the Visitor Centre and mobile toilets including a disabled toilet in the field beside the river.

What time do the gates open?

Gates open at 10:30 each day

What time do the gates close?

Gates will close at 17:00 each day.

Will there be an accessible car parking area close to the event entrance?

Yes, please follow signage on arrival and direction from stewards

Will I get charged for Parking at ScottFest22?

No, parking charges will be suspended during this event

Will the surrounding roads be closed on approach to the event?

We do not anticipate any road closures however there will be speed restrictions in place. All up to date information will be shared on our website.

Can I get to ScottFest by train?

Yes, trains run to Tweedbank station from Edinburgh Waverley. The Abbotsford minibus will be running continuously between the station and Abbotsford. 

Is there any camping or accommodation available?

No, there is no accommodation available on site during ScottFest. Please go to VisitScotland.com for information on places to stay locally.

Can I bring my own picnic?

Yes, picnics are allowed however seating is limited so please feel free to bring your own

I have special dietary requirements. Will I be able to find anything suitable to eat?

Yes, Ochiltrees, our onsite Café, has vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. Please call 01896 663962 for more detailed information. Our mobile food operators will endeavour to provide as much choice as possible. Please feel free to bring your own picnic.
