The historic house, gardens and chapels are currently closed, but reopen on the 1st March to the 30th November every year. Our estate, visitor centre (including our gift shop and free Sir Walter Scott exhibition), playtrail and café are open all year round and are free of charge; we look forward to welcoming you.

Dogs Welcome

At Abbotsford, we absolutely love dogs, of all shapes and sizes and they are welcome on a leash throughout the grounds and gardens as well as our café, with access restricted only to the Visitor Centre Exhibition and the Historic House.

Assistance dogs are welcome in all areas of the Visitor Centre, House, Gardens and wider estate and water is available on request.
