Galafoot Bridge will be operating a one way system for westbound traffic – cars travelling from Tweedbank to Galashiels can continue to do so.
Eastbound traffic, from Galashiels to Tweedbank, should follow signposted diversions via the A7 to B6360 along Abbotsford or via Lowood Bridge.
The B6360 will operate as a one-way road from A7 Junction 7 to Abbotsford, the Home of Sir Walter Scott. All residents of the Hope Scott Wing will have to use this diversion to access the accommodation.
For visitors to Abbotsford, the Home of Sir Walter Scott, the Abbotsford road (B6360) operates as usual, as a two way road, from Tweedbank Roundabout to the visitor car park. Either diversion, via the A7 or via Lowood Bridge, will allow you to reach our visitor car park.
All diversions will be clearly signposted. If you have any questions about access to Abbotsford, please phone us on 01896 752 043.
Abbotsford can still be accessed via Tweedbank roundabout (both ways, blue) or via the A7 to B6360 diversion (one-way, green)
Why not travel by public transport instead? Abbotsford is easy to reach by train and bus:
From Edinburgh, trains run every 30 minutes to Tweedbank in the Scottish Borders. From Tweedbank, you can catch the Abbotsford minibus or follow the signposted footpath to Abbotsford.
