Abbotsford, the home of Sir Walter Scott in the Scottish Borders, is one of Scotland’s most important heritage sites. Following completion of a multi-million £ redevelopment, and now with easy access from Edinburgh along the new Borders Railway, we are focussing on developing our trading performance. As we prepare for the 250th anniversary of Scott’s birth in 2021, this is an exciting time to join Abbotsford as a member of the visitor services team.

In this role you will assist the Visitor Services Manager source new products and suppliers, and undertake a range of retail stock tasks. You will ensure the shop is always well-stocked and displayed, and promotions are arranged to maximize sales. You will be happy working with data, as you will report on retail sales to allow informed decisions to be taken.

Your enthusiasm for retail and excellent customer service will motivate the front of house team, and your support and guidance will help them perform at the highest levels. As a small independent charity operated by staff and volunteers, a positive approach to team working and problem solving is a must.

21 hours a week, £8.68 - £9.11 per hour (£15,798 - £16,580 per annum, pro rata)
