Rob Roy for the 21st Century: Talk and Exhibition Viewing

7th Jun 2017

When Rob Roy appeared at the end of 1817 it was the publishing sensation of the year. But what is its relevance to modern readers?

2017 marks the 200th anniversary of one of Scott's most popular novels - Rob Roy. To mark the occasion, Abbotsford celebrates the story of the Scottish outlaw and national hero by investigating his afterlife in popular culture: Professor Alison Lumsden, Chair in English, University of Aberdeen will discuss the ways in which Rob Roy explores questions raised by our modern globalised world.

Includes a drink on arrival and opportunity to view the house as well as the new temporary exhibition Rob Roy on Stage and Screen. The talk will begin at 6pm, with doors opening at 5.30pm.
