Volunteer Coordinator

The Abbotsford Trust is looking for an organised and enthusiastic person to coordinate our Volunteering Programme.

The Trust was established in 2007 to act as a guardian of Sir Walter Scott’s “Conundrum Castle”. Abbotsford is an internationally significant designed landscape, house, and garden - it was where Scott wrote classics such as Rob Roy and Ivanhoe, where he created a style of architecture which swept the country and where he experimented with garden and landscape design.

Volunteering is a key part of The Abbotsford Trust’s approach to local community engagement and our programme has successfully grown from strength to strength in recent years and The Abbotsford Trust is now looking to recruit an organised and enthusiastic person to coordinate our Volunteering Programme.

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for administrating and supporting the Volunteer Programme with specific responsibility for the recruitment, training and support of volunteers across the organisation, from the historic house and visitor centre to the garden and estates. The post also encompasses the development of new volunteering initiatives and partnerships to further diversify and grow the volunteer team. The Volunteer Coordinator will also ensure that the Trust meets best practice standards in volunteering and offers every volunteer a positive and fulfilling experience.

Line managed by the Heritage Engagement Manager, the successful candidate will combine skills in administration and the written word, and excellent verbal communication skills.

This is a fixed-term post, funded until March 2020. 28 hours per week on a flexible basis, £12,140pa (pro rata f/t £15,175)
