heritage Engagement Assistant

The Abbotsford Trust is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic person to support our Heritage Engagement Team.

The Trust was established in 2007 to act as a guardian of Sir Walter Scott’s “Conundrum Castle”. Abbotsford is an internationally significant designed landscape, house, and garden - it was where Scott wrote classics such as Rob Roy and Ivanhoe, where he created a style of architecture which swept the country and where he experimented with garden and landscape design.

The Abbotsford Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced person to lead learning and community engagement activities with a range of audiences across the Abbotsford site during peak periods of demand. Working closely with the Outdoor Heritage Engagement Officer, gardening team and Heritage Engagement team, the post will include the delivery of schools activities and workshops within the historic house and outdoors in the gardens and estate. Hours will be available on a flexible basis, most likely weekday mornings and afternoons during term-time to cover schools visits and community activities on site.

This post is part-funded by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund and by the Scottish Government and the European Community Scottish Borders LAG LEADER 2014-2020 programme.

Fixed term for 2 years; £8.75 per hour (pro rata f/t £15,934)
